It was a cloudy summer day. The breeze was soft and cool, and it felt like a great day to be out and about. Aryanna swept her long dark hair over her shoulder as she bent down to coddle the pair of Growlithe on either side of her. The female neither drew nearer to her nor pulled away, while the male, whom she had named Cole, seemed eager to get to know her. He even went so far as to attempt a leap onto her shoulder, which had made her giggle. Today would be their first outing together, and the girl was determined to make it memorable. "Are you two excited?" Cole immediately perked up and accelerated his pace, but was careful not to wander ahead. Phoebe, on the other hand, had remained deadpan. In an attempt to coax the Growlithe out of her shell, Ari slowed for a moment and draped her arm across the furry creature's back. "Oh come on! I know you're going to love the surprise." A grin was placed upon her feminine features, eager to earn the Pokemon's trust. Cole had noticed their absence, and doubled back to hurry them along. Practically herding her forward, the young woman stood once more and carried on to their destination (which was only about ten or fifteen steps away).
Approaching the entrance of the petting zoo, Aryanna was glad to see that admittance was free. The smell of various Pokemon wafted into her nostrils, and immediately her mood heightened. Cole and Phoebe had noticed the smells before she had, of course, and both had cocked their head quizzically. "We're here! It's the Warm Hearts Petting Zoo." A wide-mouthed grin had appeared, and she felt giddy with excitement. Today was a chance for her to bond with her own Pokemon while also keeping an eye out for future breeding stock. It would make great fun for all three of them; now the two could socialize with others of their kind, as well as countless other types of Pokemon. Noticing a booth just past the entrance, she casually approached it with a hint of caution. Hopefully whoever was working would be understanding of her companions. "Excuse me, I was just wondering i-..." Upon realizing the desk was unmanned, she noticed a little bell. With her heart bursting in her chest and her hand shaking with nerves, Aryanna tapped the bell gingerly. The high chime rang out in the otherwise silence. Each of the Growlithe remained seated next to her legs, both eager to see the source of the smells. WORDS: 425 TAGGED: @simon NOTES: eek, i hope she's okay. <:

Opening the petting zoo was not Simon's idea. It was Moss's. Now, while Simon did his best not to affiliate with any group, due to his status as a mercenary, he did what Moss wanted. Why? Because that man was very scary and would probably kill Simon the first chance he got. Best to stay on his good side. Phoenix had passed a new law based on a ton of Pokemon, and Simon ad to oblige to that lie since he hunted Pokemon. He also sold them, but a petting zoo was pretty good business for him. People could see the Pokemon he had. He was currently calming down some of the new releases to the little area. Marlo was with him, which left his Willow the Darkrai and Rose the female Pyroar to watch the counter.
At the sound of the bell, Willow poked his head around the corner and gave a smile, floating over to the person to assess them and their Pokemon. Rose jumped onto the counter, laying down, giving a small growl at the guest. it was warm and welcoming. Willow darted off, leaving Rosa to study the strangers and to keep her eyes on them, Simon coming back with a Riolu in his arms. The puppy didn't want to be put down in her area with the others. "Oh, hello," he said, giving his fake yet pleasant smile. "Are you here to pet some Pokemon with your dogs?" He let the Riolu go in Willow's arms, the Darkrai floating off to go put her where she belonged. Marlo the Espurr gave a loud meow at the stranger, followed by a warm purr. It wasn't often Simon got someone with two Pokemon here, that looked the exact same.
He had spent enough time around Kanashi and his father to know they were breeding Pokemon. He didn't really care why someone was here as long as they didn't hurt the Pokemon in anyway and as long as they didn't try to steal anything. This was just a way for him to get the Pokemon some exercise while still selling them. Simon might be hateful towards nearly everyone, but he loved Pokemon.

In a whirl, a series of Pokemon answered her call for assistance. The first creature she recognized was the Darkrai that appeared from around the corner, nearly scaring the fur off of Phoebe. Cole was more curious than frightened - typical. Aryanna was taken by surprise by the much larger arrival following the Darkrai; the Pyroar was impressively well-groomed, and it was easy to tell that they were all taken care of. Giving in to her love of Pokemon, the young woman grinned at each of them in turn. "Well hello, it's nice to meet you! Oh!" No sooner had she finished than the Darkrai had disappeared around the opposite corner, out of sight.
Left with the Pyroar to chaperone them, the threesome did their best to behave. Cole was begging to be picked up so he could get a better look at the Pyroar. 'Oh alright!' Aryanna crouched down in order to pick up the Growlithe, noting how he felt heavier than usual. She made a mental note to cut back on his treats. Phoebe was content to gaze from afar, although she was quite interested in the new Pokemon. The Growlithe in her arms was wagging his tail in excitement, even going so far as to let loose a yip of greeting to the Pyroar.
Within moments, the Darkrai returned with their apparent owner; a redheaded young man who looked like he was around Aryanna's age. Immediately, her cheeks grew a faint pink at the idea of talking to someone of the opposite sex. However, her nerves were steadied by the cute Riolu he carried in his arms. "How adorable!" The words were spoken before she even processed the thought. Her soft chords filled the area, quickly left behind by the other youth's greeting. "Hello! Yes, I am. I just wanted to make sure that was okay before I brought them in." The appearance of yet another new Pokemon piqued her interest. An Espurr; she had only ever seen one in a picture book. They were such mysterious creatures. A nod and smile of greeting was given to the Espurr in return.
As the Riolu was carried off, Aryanna felt Cole lurch in her arms toward the stranger. Pink tongue exposed, the Growlithe attempted a quick lick to the newcomer's face. Reflexes taking over, she took a step back to allow more room between the two. "Cole! I'm so sorry, mister. He's a little too friendly sometimes." Her cheeks felt red hot, and they were flashing a cherry red. Phoebe had an amused look on her face, but otherwise remained still. WORDS: 433 TAGGED: @simon NOTES: lord help them.

Sweet bitter words, unlike nothing I have heard. Sing along, Mockingbird You don't affect me. .X.------------------------.x.----------------------.X.
Rose gave a deep rumbling purr at the stranger and her Pokemon, her tail swishing back and forth. She liked meeting new Pokemon. They were always so adorable, especially when they were so young. She lifted her head when Simon approached, purring at him and gently butting her head against Marlo's. She loved her mate, even if he was the size of a newborn kitten to her. Marlo purred back at her and crawled down Simon's body, resting against the Pyroar. The man looked at the cats and gave a rare smile at them before he glanced back to the girl. Oh? Why was her face getting red? One could say when it came to feelings, even those that involve blushing, Simon was way behind. He didn't pick them up easily or responded to them well. Only three people were able to get deep enough under his skin to get him to open up like that. He gave his routine smile at her. Her commentary on the Riolu made Simon feel proud in his hunting skills. Hehe, if someone thought one of the mutts he got his hands on was cute, then that meant they could possibly be adopted.
"Of course~. As long as your Pokemon don't scare the little ones or start fights, they are more than welcome to play around in here. Important to bond with 'em," he said, scratching Rosa's head, then Marlo's when the Espurr started to paw at him for attention. Simon tensed up when the dog licked his face. He blinked a few times before giving a small chuckle, a real one. Both Rosa and Marlo seemed surprised at that. He kept chuckling while he flashed a toothy grin. "Ah, no worries. It's good to have such a welcoming pup. Hey, buddy," he said, trying to scratch the dog's head. He patted Rosa's back, the lioness hopping off the counter to wander over to the gate, waiting for Simon to open it up. Marlo had jumped back on the man to resume his seat on his shoulder, purring loudly while he hung onto Simon's red hair for support.
Simon unlocked the gate and pushed it open, motioning for them to come inside. "Things are pretty self explanatory," he said, "different types are in different areas. All are welcome for you to pet and the like. Even to buy if you want to. Prices can be lowered depending on what you have," he trailed off and gave another smile. He almost forgot about the most important rule, though. "Oh, and have fun." Rosa purred as she stalked by Simon, sitting at his heels. "Would you like me to show you around?" Alright, so he was a little lonely and talking to another person was helping out. He didn't like to be around others usually, but sometimes, he liked people. Like today. It was rare, but he was actually feeling open. Perhaps living with Kai was making him soft.

Aryanna felt relieved at the young man's response, assured that Cole and Phoebe would be able to experience this with her. The threesome were in desperate need of some bonding, particularly the two Growlithe. "Great! They'll be on their best behavior." The haste with which Cole had efficiently licked the man's face both surprised and horrified her. As his handler, she felt responsible for allowing him to cross the spatial boundary. The silence following the incident seemed to echo around them, and she could hear nothing but the blood rushing through her ears. The brief laughter that erupted from him shocked her, but in a pleasant way; it was not often that she found someone that enjoyed and understood Pokemon as she did. She noted his radiant smile, and found that she liked it. The blush in her cheeks subsided as the embarrassment washed away.
The male Growlithe accepted the young man's petting, and reveled in the attention. He let loose a low yip of enjoyment in response. Now eager for their adventure to begin, she followed the red-headed youth and his Pokemon to the gate. Listening to the rules, the pair of Growlithe seemed to understand what was asked of them. Cole begged to be put down in order to explore the zoo at his own leisure, and Aryanna was happy to oblige. Phoebe began to show an excitement that she had lacked up to that point as she listened to the owner's instructions.
In the distance, Aryanna could hear the sounds of various Pokemon. A giddy feeling had risen from her stomach, and was now the cause of the grin on her face. The thought of buying Pokemon from the petting zoo had not occurred to her, but it seemed like a legitimate business offer. Perhaps after meeting a few of them, she would feel more concrete about it. "Those seem like fair enough rules. It seems that we'll have no trouble having fun!" She allowed herself a chuckle in remembrance of Cole's affections earlier. Phoebe had grown more comfortable with the group, and even felt safe following closely behind the Pyroar at the man's heels. At his invitation for a tour, the girl nodded in gratitude. "That would be lovely! Thank you."
For the first time since meeting him, the girl really noticed his appearance. He was taller than she was, and cute in a rugged way. The red hair stood out nearly as much as the wrap around eye patch he wore. Curious about him, she traced his footsteps at a respectable distance to his right. "My name is Aryanna Welsh, and that little ball of trouble is Cole. Phoebe's a little shy, but she usually comes around. What's your name, and who is this lovely couple?" The young woman had noticed the Pyroar and Espurr's exchange of affection earlier. At the sound of their names, the pair of Growlithe gave a woof of greeting in turn. Cole had placed himself between the pair of humans, happy to be noticed. "He really seems to have taken a shine to you." Aryanna flashed him a smile, her indigo eyes flashing with humor. "So, where are we off to first?" WORDS: 532 TAGGED: @simon NOTES: n/a

Sweet bitter words, unlike nothing I have heard. Sing along, Mockingbird You don't affect me. .X.------------------------.x.----------------------.X.
At least he wasn't getting any flack from her or her Pokemon about the rules of the place. Simon had to watch after his Pokemon. Even if he planned on selling them, he hoped to protect them as well as he could. He got a few people that refused to listen, mainly idiotic kids that learned Simon could throw a knife. Usually right by their heads. Just to scare them off. No one messed with his Pokemon. Especially those on his team. Then he got the stupid teenagers that thought they could steal one in this open place. They learned how fast a Pyroar and a Houndoom could run. And to fear a Yveltal that was pissed off. Simon didn't mess around. He didn't have much of a sense of humor when it came to idiots. Yet this girl seemed alright. She was respectful, even though she didn't have to be, and had a confident air. Simon had never met someone like her before. He was used to cold mercenaries and Rangers running about, not... someone.... normal.
He listened to the introduction and smiled at both of the dogs. Some would think Simon was more of a cat person, having one Meowstic that watched Marlo, then Marlo, then Rosa, and then Frost his Weavile, but he also liked dogs. His starter was a Houndour, now a Houndoom, after all. "Nice to meet ya, Aryanna," he said, giving a small smile. "I'm Simon. Såre Simon Heart. The Espurr is Marlo, and the Pyroar is Rosa." The two cats looked at the girl. Marlo waved a paw and meowed at her, while Rosa gave a hello growlish roar, purring loudly. "And this," Simon said, stopping to giving a Luxray a pat on the head, "is Thor. This is the cat area. We have Thor here, then the Persian Starfire. And Embers the Typhlosion likes to hang out here." The three Pokemon approached the group, Starfire jumping over the short fence to sniff at the dogs happily. "They are all fine around dogs. They tend to get along." This was the first stop, and stock was sadly low. Kanashi was supposed to be providing him with a bit more once he finished breeding his Pokemon again, but he sure was taking his sweet time.
Giving them some time, Simon watched the dogs with a smile. Yeah, he liked this girl and her mutts, err, hounds. Marlo purred at the other cats and climbed onto Thor's head, meowing like a prince. Rosa watched and seemed to give a mock bow at their little game, both chuckling. Simon was rather happy he opened this place, he was able to give his Pokemon some more interaction with others. It was worth it.
