Personality -



Ryan once upon a time was a quiet, gentle soul. He was warm and friendly of those around him and was as dependable as they came. He dreamed of being a hero though his timid personality got on the way. Ryan has worked hard to change himself and has matured over the last few years however. The timid innocent boy is gone, replaced by a cool, collected man. He hold justice dear and has little patience for what he views as evil. He will always jump in to rescue an old ladies purse, or stop a kidnapping. Comic books are his guilty pleasure and he uses his children as an excuse to go see super hero movies. Anything about good defeating evil inspires him. Ryan likes to believe in everyone and that they’re capable of good but he knows that’s not true. He can’t help but see the darkness in their hearts. Those he thought were safe and he could trust tore his heart to pieces. So he refuses to trust so easily. Now it was nearly impossible for him to be nasty toward strangers so Ryan is cordial to acquaintances. Anyone who tries to flirt with him is politely turned down, if still pursued he sometimes becomes violent. Especially if he has been drinking at all. Alcohol does not affect Ryan very well and he becomes mopey or angry. He tries to only drink socially with his few friends and keep it away from his kids. No one except his kids really get a second chance. It’s short sighted and close minded of him but he was burned by someone he trusted so it’s little wonder. Even if Ryan hates someone he still can’t deny his manners and will try to act civil. He makes his dislike of people very clear however and unless he is forced to he doesn’t allow himself to get closer to them in case he finds out they're really not as horrible as he claims. The one thing Ryan won't ever do is roll over and give up. That at least hasn’t changed. He’s either all in it or not even giving the problem a thought. In this way he can seem hot and cold. Gung ho one moment and unapproachable the next. Be careful with him because if pressured or backed into a corner Ryan can become violent or unpredictable.



People watching is a pastime of the past. He leave people alone for the most part. There’s no need to get involved unless directly asked. Due to a near death accident Ryan is no longer allowed to do anything more than read people’s auras in passing unless Arthur’s around. Over the years and thanks to training with his pokemon his aura has gotten stronger. He can read minds and sense emotions as well as use it to peer through some objects. Arthur is in the process of teaching Ryan to use his aura abilities to heal but with limited success. Retaining his love for children, he adopted two of his own. Though being more mature doesn’t mean one is a great parent. He really does enjoy kids though and would do anything for his children. He still sneaks into day cares to play with baby pokemon though with his growing breeding pairs he has lots of baby riolu of his own. He still wants to create the best pokemon partners he can and sells them to trainers or to the rangers as starters.





History -



Ryan like oh so many other gijinka was created in a test tube. A series of babies born with lucario dna forever twined with theirs, he was given the number eight and placed under the care of a scientist. The goal of the lab was to study and use aura powers to form a new weapon or enhance the laser based one's they already had. Most of the other scientists didn't care too much about the gijinka they experimented on. The woman in charge of Ryan was different though. She let him out of his cage and to stay in her office with her. He even got to help with chemical experiments when no one else was around to see. She was a sweet woman and became a like a mother to the young boy. It was little surprise that he became the strongest out of his set of experiments. His ability to control his aura was by far the best, but he lacked the brute strength to make it much use.



Ryan never found out what happened to the other experiments but he got the feeling they were all destroyed as failures. Some how his mother got him spared, and so he continued to help her and waited for the next generation of lucario gijinkas to grow up. He was supposed to teach them his control and skill. No doubt once they were taught, he would be destroyed as well. Though he never got the chance to find out. The alarms of the laboratory started going off and all the cage doors opened at once allowing all the gijinka and pokemon to escape. Ryan's first thought was to go find his mother. He didn't know what was going on but he had the feeling he should make sure she was alright. He found her alright, but it wasn't good. His mother had betrayed the laboratory and ruined all of their data and set the experiments free. When Ryan found her she had already been detained by security and looked a little worse for wear. She screamed at him to run and get as far away from the place as he could.



Ryan refused. Determined to save her he fought back against the humans. Using his powers to stop their bullets and knock them back. Of course he wasn't as powerful as he demanded his body to be and was shot several times. They weren't lethal wounds but it quickly became apparent that he couldn't save her. He wasn't going to leave though. She was his mother how could he. A riolu ran onto the scene. It had been recently hatched but cared for by Ryan under his mother’s guidance. Ryan wasn't going to leave, but the riolu forcibly dragged him back and echoed the woman's words. He had so much to live for, and he was better off to forget her. Nothing good would come of trying to get revenge. Ryan escaped with his riolu companion an utter sobbing mess but alive.



Ryan lived in the shadows for awhile after that before he healed and eventually got his act together. He saw on the news that his mother was put on trial and the labratory was trying to find their pokemon and gijinka again. The dog pokemon convinced him to give up revenge after almost a year of trying to find a way to undermine the labratory. Instead Ryan and his lucario decided to turn the revenge into something good. He was going to breed riolus. They were a dependable and hardy lot and there just weren't enough of them around. The ranger and trainers alike needed them! Ryan got his starter pair. They were special coloration and he only loved them more for it.



Something happened not long after and Ryan didn’t even have time to establish a breeding facility before he was moving again. He moved out of the region to Sinnoh, trying to escape his past life. It was a minor set back though he was slightly less innocent of people intentions by then. He learned more about Riolu from their home region and established his breeding program. That’s when he met Tommy. The man was sweet, caring and intelligent. It didn’t hurt he was attractive either. Ryan fell hard and fast and without any background in love he blindly entered the spiders trap. Things were going well, he had his breeding lands and a hot, understanding boyfriend. Then naturally six month in things went into the toilet. “Tommy” wasn’t the man’s real name but in the end he nearly forced himself on Ryan and left with a huge portion of the lucario’s savings. Only Arthur’s timely intervention saved them. Angry at himself for not seeing through the man’s ruse and disgusted that he wasn’t able to push away and save himself from Tommy, Ryan became depressed and self loathing. His friends were understanding at first but slowly they started to fade away, telling him it had been almost a month and he should just start over.



Things weren’t that simple however. With his starter pair now Lucario’s, Ryan left the egg care in their hands and traveled to the city four days a week. Arthur never left his side and that was a good thing too. Not long after the betrayal and feeling empty inside, Ryan nearly killed himself while meditating. His aura destabilized and nearly cocooned him in a rose colored crystal like substance. Only Emm, his female starter, saved him. Breaking the crystal and soothing his aura with hers. It wasn’t a suicide attempt but according to his lucario it might as well have. His depression destabilized his aura and it took this as his loss of will to live and was going to seal him away until everything stabilized again which may never have happened. After the incident Ryan seemed to snap out of things or at least show an interest in things around him. He adopted two children and set about uprooting his breeding lands. It was time to head back to Phoenix.



Ryan came back a changed man. He didn’t bother trying to get close to people. He lived for his kids and to get his breeding lands reestablished. A few more pokemon joined the ranks and over two years things got somewhat back to normal. Something was still broken inside of Ryan though… something that would perhaps stay that way forever.
