nothing to see here

the organization known as basilisk exists in a strange contradiction: they venerate peace, and fight to keep it at any price. though the organization itself is made of a vast variety of people, the thing they all have in common is a distinct distaste for war, and an interest in never letting it happen again. they'd call themselves pacifists, except that they aren't above using violence to further their own goals. 

as for the goals themselves, well. mostly they strive for land to work and food to feed themselves, but they recognize the importance of politics and grow their connections whenever possible. a member of basilisk is a member of an extended family, and as long as they have each other they never want for anything. they also defend their people savagely, not unlike a hive of beedrill. if you leave them alone they're content to stick to themselves- just don't piss them off.


in the aftermath of the great war, people of all species were left homeless and broken. humans and those gijinka who'd grown up among them were left especially shaken- everything they'd thought they'd known was shattered, leaving behind a strange new world of monsters and magic. many gijinka had found themselves enslaved by one side or the other, but now that the war was over they were cast out, abandoned to a broken world. that was where the founder, raphael, stepped in.

it was supposed to be a small operation: a homeless shelter, of sorts, a place for people (mostly gijinka) to rest temporarily while they got their lives back together. but, well, things rarely go as planned. feeding and housing people takes territory, and taking new territory requires more people. raphael himself found it impossible to turn people away, and so the organization snowballed, growing larger and larger. and, though it was initially supposed to a temporary measure, no one really ever wanted to leave. raphael, slightly overwhelmed, attempted to organize somewhat, but it still remains rather laid-back in terms of hierarchy.

of course, as time goes on, their power grows. what started as an a loose association of ranchers and farmers has grown into a large, tightly-knit family- one that doesn't take kindly to being messed with.


the original members of basilisk first carved out a place for themselves in the midnight desert, in the hopes that the vast expanse would isolate them a bit from the outside world. they've since expanded to include the fertile farmlands of the summer meadow, and their headquarters is located in koi village. 

they don't do much to hide themselves, as they've made peace with the villagers and the magic of the area keeps the village itself pretty safe from outsiders. they've taken up a small complex of buildings near the outskirts, and it's a rather peaceful place, consisting of small buildings and outdoor courtyards. the main administrative building, filled with offices and meeting rooms, is up front. the rest of the complex is a sprawling mess, and always seems to be under construction. there are two or three buildings dedicated to training, research, and medical care, but it's mostly made of small houses, where members are welcome to stay at any time. everyone's guaranteed food in their stomach and a roof over their head, whenever they might need it.


i. all basilisks are family, and family comes first. everyone is to be treated with respect, and members should help each other out whenever possible. no basilisk goes hungry if anyone else can help it.

ii. everyone is expected to do their part. you don't have to perform any missions that you aren't comfortable with, but even if it's just doing the dishes, everyone should find some way to pitch in.

iii. higher ranks should always be listened to. you're always welcome to voice your opinion, and the bosses will try to take it into consideration, but at the end of the day they make the decisions.

iv. retain some semblance of subtlety. the existence of basilisk isn't exactly a secret, but don't go spreading it around unless asked.

v. only members of senior rank and above are to actively recruit. juniors shouldn't be inviting strangers into hq.

vi. basilisk is a peaceful organization and strives to maintain good relations with all other groups. diplomatic relationships with the elven government, dark one government, etc are not to be jeopardized.

vii. violence is always a last resort. member disputes are to be settled peacefully or by higher ranking members, and fighting with other groups is forbidden except in the case of self-defense.





boss - the founder and leader, who guides the group's plans and strategy. though he's always open to suggestions and respectful debates, he always gets the last word. he makes a point of personally greeting all new members, and spends a most of his time as an ambassador, gathering resources and making connections.



underbosses - raphael's right and left hands, responsible for day-to-day operations. one oversees the headquarters and is in charge of resources and new members, while the other is the head of covert operations and defense. they're trusted authority figures and the most familiar faces around headquarters.



seniors - the trusted members that have been sticking around a little longer. they're the first ones the bosses call on to get things done. though teams for missions are assigned on a case-by-case basis, the seniors are the ones generally called on to lead. they serve as mentors and role models for younger members.



juniors - the average members of the group. they do go on missions and the like, but they mostly stick to the more average, every day tasks. things like cooking, cleaning, and raising pokemon are entrusted to the various junior members- this is where most people start out when they join.



pups - this group mostly consists of non-combatants. whether they're too young or too old, or just not combat-trained, these people are the ones that the rest of the group takes care of. they still contribute, just in more peaceful ways, such as ranching and farming. if you want to help but aren't really the training type, this is the group for you.
