Occupations are almost like jobs. They are used to tell other characters and members what a character specializes in. Think of it like majors and minors in college. Every occupation can be a major or a minor.
Every character is required to have at least one occupation.
Likewise, each occupation offers a 'bonus'. The bonus of an occupation provides a perk that only comes with that occupation. All the bonuses you see are bonuses that are only available for a character that masters in that occupation. If a character dabbles in another occupation but does not master in it, they will not obtain those bonuses.
Example, you have a character that is a trainer, yet they dabble in coordination but don't major in coordination. They will only obtain trainer bonuses and no coordinator ones.
Yet if you have a Trainer-Coordinator, they will obtain both bonuses, because the trainer is mastering in both occupations.

♟ What are special occupations?
♞
Special occupations are just the same as occupations except they are rarer. You cannot create a character that has a special occupation without gaining it in an event or buying it in the market when it is available.
There is something extra about special occupations, as well. You cannot double-major, or, have another occupation hooked to it. The reason being is that they have more bonuses and are special, therefor, they must concentrate on that one thing.

♙How many occupations can my character have at once?
♘
A character can have one or two occupations at once.
One occupation is like being just a trainer or just a breeder.
Two occupations is what we call a "double major". This means you can have Trainer-Breeder. They mainly focus on training but also breed a lot.

♟Can my character change occupations?
♞
Yes, they can! The thing is, if you have a trainer now, they can change to another occupation or pick another one up!
If you have a mercenary, they can hook another occupation on them, yet they will always keep their mercenary status.
Civilians are different when you want to change occupations. They tend to have unfair advantages because they can automatically start out with a team. If you want to switch a civilian's occupation, contact staff.

♙ What's with mercenaries and occupations?
♘
A mercenary is a group as well as an occupation, which is the tricky part.
Yet a mercenary can be a mercenary by themselves, or have a second occupation, like a Mercenary-Trainer.
Mercenaries are the only exception to the special occupation rule. You can have a Mercenary-Adventurer.

♚ Double-Major FAQ's
♙What if I major in one occupation and in breeding? How will starters be dealt with?
♘
♟ What are the restricted double-majors?
♙Why can't special occupations have a double-major?
♘
♟ Do I need a double-major?
♘
You will be given breeder starters.
Which means if you are a specialized trainer and you want to specialize in dragons as well as breed, you are out of luck. Breeders never get dragon starters. No way no how.
In the event a staff member does give a dragon-specialist-breeder a starter pair, then the pair will be taken away and replaced.

♙Why can't special occupations have a double-major?
♘
They are special for a reason.
We don't allow them to hold their own double-majors because that would lessen the rarity.
The only exception to this are mercenaries. Mercenaries can be a mercenary as well as have a special occupation with them.
