Appearing big and scary isn't a problem, its how he is almost just like his master. Brave, curious, and horrible at listening to anyone. How he and Adrian can even work together is a mystery. They both want to explore the exciting things first and constantly challenge each other in battles they will both lose. yet somehow, Xavier is always ready to be the mature one when the time comes, even if Adrian refuses.

diggin' deeper and deeper
Curiosity killed the cat, and satisfaction brought it back doesn't really work in real life. Or the bringing it back part doesn't. Yet, for some reason, Adrian has never listened to that. He's curious, likes to experiment, likes to see things that have never been seen, study things, get to explore unknown places and meet creatures he never would have. You see, there are two people in this world. Those that are brave enough to lose sight of the shore and those that are too afraid to let their feet leave the beach. Adrian is the one that would gladly leave sight of the shore, if it meant exploring something unknown.
He's rash, he doesn't think about a plan or a strategy, and he will gladly rush head long into anything without thinking. That's who he is, its how how rolls. Oh, that giant dark hole? Yeah! Let's jump down it! Fun! He is highly intelligent, however, and can usually get himself out of a bind with quick thinking. He does have a fear though, and that fear is being alone. He needs one of his Pokemon, or someone he knows with him at all times. Even when sleeping. If not, he starts to go into a panic and freak out, making himself attack anything that comes near him out of pure fear and anxiety. Otherwise, he is fine. He is calm and he is happy.
Adrian does have to be careful with what he does though, he does have a few fears, that aren't strong enough to be considered phobias. He is scared of the dark, being alone in a dark forest or anything of the sort. He requires light to be with him so he won't freak out. He is also scared of the ocean, what lurks under the waves. He might love adventure and being curious, but he would never dive under water, maybe for a second or two just to say he did, but he would never do it for more than a few minutes. He likes the sky more, where there is more freedom, more room, more storms.
He loves storms, any kind. From sand storms to thunder storms or hurricanes, he loves them all. He's a junky for what is in the air. Clouds, wind currents, just wind in general, birds, dragons, did he mention wind? Just air, the feeling of being free. Like he isn't stuck to the ground, isn't stuck in one place, with this feet attack to something solid. As they say, the snake was forever doomed to crawl on its belly while it watched the hawks in the sky. Adrian is a proud hawk and he'll be damned if someone tries to keep him from high elevations. He loves them too much to give a damn about what other people think. Not safe you say? Who cares? Not ethical you say? Not listening!
He likes doing things his way, but can be lenient for the people he trust or likes. He can come up with some good plans, but Adrian is good at taking orders from those that manage to get him to listen. He is sure to try his best to please the people he likes and ignore and annoy everyone he doesn't. That's how life is.

a little background check
Born and raised in the high mountains of Hoenn, Adrian always had a taste for adventure. He would often wander off with his solid grey Bagon to explore the grooves of the mountain side and the hidden caves. He couldn't live without being able to go out and explore the world. It was when he was ten he was able to actually go deeper into the mountains. Xavier evolved, leaving him one stage away from the feared Salamence, and took on a snow white color instead of the grey. It was due to this evolution his parents let them wander farther away from home. It was one day, when doing their usual path through the mountains to collect shiny rocks, that a sudden land-slide occurred. Adrian and Xavier, Adrian being thirteen at the time, ran all the way to a dead end, and had to jump. That was it, The end of the line, the final tale of the great explorer. Or was it?
A vicious, loud roar filled the air with a white light that soon turned black, as black as a starless, moonless night sky. The dragon, odd in shape from normal dragons, twisted in the air, grabbed Adrian and used the odd shape to fly expertly through the falling rocks, before they made it out over a forest. This was Xavier, the changed Dragon. Unlike a normal Salamence, he was far more lithe, his tail was odd, and his head seemed to be more rounded, as if to allow air to travel over his scales. He was strange, but he had saved Adrian's life. The two returned home and Adrian told the tale to his parents, the boy feeling so happy that his little Shelgon had evolved into something so beautiful.
It was later things took a turn for the worse. During a training session with another member of their village, Adrian was attacked by the angry Pokemon on the other side, a Pokemon just following orders. The trainer, enraged that he was about to be defeated, called for the desperate attempt to win. Adrian kicked and lashed out at the Pokemon, getting his foot torn off in the process. The attack lasted just for a few seconds before the other Pokemon was attacked with pure hate and blind rage by Xavier. The Salamence ripped it nearly to shreds before turning his gaze on the trainer that ordered the attack. A hot stack of blue fire began to develop in the dragon's mouth before being spat out, nearly melting the very ground it landed on while giving a blue and purple flame. It wasn't a normal attack, it was a defense mechanism.
The two returned home, Adrian getting a replacement for his lost foot from his father, and the two went off again. This time, another disaster struck. While flying over the forest in another mountain rage, Xavier and Adrian were attacked by a flock of birds, one of them tearing off part of Xavier's tail. The dragon lost balance and went spiraling down. The walk home was long, but as soon as they arrived, Adrian built a replacement. After that, the two left Hoenn, his parents knowing he would be fine (despite all the accidents) and had faith that he would follow his dream as an adventurer. In Phoenix, a region barely mapped out to the last island, was where Adrian found his new home.
