diggin' deeper and deeper
Not much is known about Vitus, those that learn more about him will only end up having their souls devoured to make him stronger. He's a crossroads demon, and for the simpletons out there, that means he's the demon you make contracts with. He gives you what you want, within reason, then takes your soul once it is done. He could care less about how others threat themselves in life or what they want. He won't question it. He'll deliver what is asked, since that is his job. What right does he to tell people what they can and can't wish for? He will always get what he wants in the end. All he has to do is offer up his infinite time to do it. Wonderful thing, being a demon is.
It is due to the nature of his main job, and the jobs he gets with it, that makes him very happy. He doesn't really care what the job is, he does it with a smile. He has is own sense of evil, however, and will ensure he does his job right yet will be sure to remind the person, once it is completed, what they gave up. Most seem too shocked to speak while he takes their soul from them, enjoying his meal, taking it bit by bit so those he doesn't like feel every ounce of pain. He isn't that heartless, he does have a tiny soft spot for lesser demons, but it is very rare he shows it.
His soft spot only comes through when he sees a lesser demon that has helped him in the past. Otherwise, he has no issues beating them or harming them otherwise. He knows his soft spot is a weakness, so he'll simply apologize for causing pain to the other demons later on, if he feels like it. He doesn't, however, have any soft spot for humans and their ways. He sees them as play toys, their emotions being his to mess with. He enjoys watching them suffer when they realize he sold him their soul. When he isn't on a contract, he will pick one human that he sees as fun and mess with them until they break. Try to twist them around, mess with their heads, make them change everything about them.
Despite his job and the contracts he gets, he does spend a lot of time studying things that belong to the human world, attending balls and the like for the sheer fun of doing something other than spending time in hell with the other demons. He does enjoy reading and practicing the human style of the arts, given he still sees humans as nothing more than toys and food. One could say he enjoys the ideas some humans come up with, but otherwise, he still doesn't respect them.
Getting him to like you is a very tough job. He doesn't 'like' things. He doesn't enjoy being near things that aren't up to his level. Worming your way into his black heart is a harder job than giving him to give up a contract. He won't listen and he will see it as a sort of game. Sadly, he does have a soft spot even for humans, if they ever do manage to get that far. yet that is like asking for him to not take your soul and feed. it won't happen often, and it will usually never happen.
Once his anger is struck, his smile fades away and you better run, unless of course you are stronger than he is. he will never talk or fight back to a demon that is above his own rank, except a few choice words might slip out once in a blue moon when he's being pestered. Otherwise, no one will escape his sick sense of humor. He is not beyond harming someone, killing them, or the like. Or beyond harming another demon, if just to release his anger.

a little background check
Being born a demon means many things. For one, you were born with many others. And two, you were born a filthy lesser. Vitus is proud of being born a demon and thinks there is nothing better than serving his lord. Yet being born a lesser was something he hated. He was one of the weaker demons back during the day, even some of the other lesser demons made game of him, but he worked hard to try to get noticed by his lord, and soon found himself with a little more power. Hard work would always pay off in the end, right? Right. he might not have had enough to advance, but he had enough to stop from being pushed around by the other lesser demons. Yet Hell was so boring sometimes. He wished he could be out and about, causing trouble, taking contracts.
Years passed, and he finally lost count of his age. He could make a guess but he will never really know himself. All Vitus knew that one day he finally had his hard work pay off. He was granted more power, which took him up one rank and gave him his cherished red eyes. Being higher than a crossroads demon was a dream he may have had when he was younger, but he's more than content being a crossroads demon. He started out weak and pitiful and then got his first contract. He was to help a man achieve riches beyond his wildest dreams.
The job was rather easy. Not nearly as hard as he thought, and the soul might not have been the best in the world but hell, it was food. He then made it a habit to try and take jobs from any other demon he could. He tried to get as many souls as he could eat, and he even kept a record of all the souls he had devoured and what job he had to do for them. Call it his scrapbook or something, but it beat just waiting around for someone to summon him. He then gained the habit of wandering around the human world like he owned the place, causing problems, screwing with people's minds, the usual. That never got boring. Then times changed again and he found himself with more... vicious jobs.
They were fun, they were interesting, and the best part at the end was the meal, of course. Life, however, slowly got boring the less contracts that came in, so he took to learning more about the human's world and what they lived in. To say it in simple terms, he rather enjoyed the high life and using his powers to get what he wanted while causing distress and pain in other parts of the world. It was so fun. And when he got a job? Even better.
